FacilityLink answers the need for an efficient communication channel
between the facility and the pharmacy, replacing fax and telephone
methods currently in place. FacilityLink is a Web application, which
is to be hosted in the pharmacy. It will communicate directly with
the pharmacy's FrameworkLTC® database and expose some of this data to
the facilities for their use. FacilityLink allows the pharmacy to
establish a secure method of communication with its facility
customers by allowing the facilities to use this application.
Security
FrameworkLTC® users are given access to FacilityLink by a primary
facility user. Permissions can be assigned for each user defining
access (granted/denied) to each function in the program.

New Admissions
Users in the facility populate demographics, payment plans, drug
allergies, medical conditions, current drug orders, and current non-
drug orders. These new patient admission requests are sent to the
pharmacy's work queue for review and final acceptance.
Patient Profile Maintenance
Users in the facility can see current entries in a patient's profile
as well as change profile information. The patient's demographics,
allergies, and non-drug order additions and changes can be requested
of the pharmacy. Discharge requests can also be entered by users in
the facility.
Drug Orders
Non-drug (literal orders) can be maintained directly by the nursing
staff in the facility. Pharmacy intervention is not required to
enter, change, or stop a non-drug order. Request for new drug orders,
reorders, refills, and discontinue orders can be added to the pharmacy
work queue as well, though it may be necessary for the facility to
still fax the hard copy prescription to the pharmacy, depending on
stare board of pharmacy requirements.
Drug Quote
The drug quote feature allows the facility to create its own drug
quote. This function is intended to be used during the admission
process to evaluate the impact of a potential admission.
Prescription Status
FacilityLink users can monitor the status of prescriptions in the
pharmacy. As the prescription is being processed at the pharmacy
using FrameworkLTC®, pharmacists/technicians can update the status.
Medical Records
The facility can print medical records for their patients. The
medical records are generated and sent to the pharmacy in a
proprietary format to be printed on plain paper. The facility can
download a free utility, available from SoftWriters, Inc. to view and
print that file. The format for the records will be set for that
facility in FrameworkLTC®.
